SIGMA Club

SIGMA Club Alumni Association

The early history of the SIGMA Club Alumni Association harkens back to meetings at Brother Bob Rollin’s apartment complex club house in Birmingham, AL, in the early 1970s.  At some point Brother Bruce Higdon embraced an idea that was critical in shaping the Annual Blue Water Bay Reunion, or Higdon Open for those who were orginally around when the first group of SIGMAS began meeting each year to remember old times and to play golf and renew the bonds of brotherhood that we all continue to share.  Although the Higdon Open started out as a golf outing it has now grown into much more than just an occasion to meet and kick around old memories.  The Blue Water Bay Sailing Club was added to the festivities in May of 1999 when Skipper Rick Bryant and a few nautical types rented a sail boat and hit the open waters to share the same type of brotherhood that the golfers had been renewing each year.  This year the registered group of SIGMA Brothers at the event numbered around 40 souls and the expectation of another fabulous BWB Reunion was well under way.
The spirit of brotherhood that we all shared when we attended Alabama College, now the University of Montevallo, is alive and well!  If you have not taken the opportunity to come to one of these annual affairs I highly recommend you make the effort.  You will not want to ever miss one again once you have rekindled old memories and long lasting brotherhood which is even stronger today than when we were actives on campus.
